Nanowrimo Day 30

DONE.

Well, okay, not really. I still have roughly a chapter and a half left to write on this project, but I crossed the finish line with precisely 50,000 words (I validated at 49,987 and wrote 13 words to get myself across), so I have the purple bar and can now say I’ve won all but one Nanowrimo done. Lost myself writing a rather lengthy and complicated fight scene. I complain about them, but when the muse is working with me, they’re the easiest things in the world to write for some reason.

Of course, then I reread them and panic, but hey, you can’t have everything.

But I have won, and I am pleased, and now I am going to read Cold Days and drink celebratory shots with etoiline because we survived a month of sickness, health, stress, and writing, and it’s OVER.

Word Count: 50,000 words
Current Project: Secret Santa Chapter 13
Project on Deck: Secret Santa Chapter 14

PS - Editing to add this pretty little thing:
Nanowrimo Winner Thing

I am about halfway through (I stayed up until 5 a.m. reading, which I am regretting now) and OMG MOLLY. AND HIS REUNION WITH THOMAS. I kept getting online to random shout things in excitement at a friend of mine. I already love this book so much better than Ghost Story or Changes. I love that Harry's the last person you want handed big gobs of responsibility and yet they make him do all the crazy things.

But that aside, I'm really glad you joined me for Nano. It tends to frighten people off and then they try it and are surprised by the fact that they can write the 50k and there's no much more mystical to it than planting your butt in the chair and typing away until the page is full of words. As a culture, we tend to romanticize the writing process, which is why I think 90% of people that tell me they're going to write a novel never do. It's really neat that your novel was able to flourish, too! So many things always surprised me when I was writing Fates. I had no idea that the story would be anything like it ended up being, but it's so much fun to get along on that process.

Congratulations on finishing!!! Are you basking in golden light and drinking champagne?

Harry's relationship with Molly has been one of the highlights of his character development in the late series for me. It really was the first real responsibility that he reached out for on his own, and he managed it wonderfully. She's got great depth of character. You're absolutely right about the reunion with Thomas. That Thomas was able to take Harry to pieces over the boneheaded moves he made in Changes? Right after getting him back? Really nice. And Demonreach? So much awesomeness there.
Honestly, you learn so much more about the depth of the world in this one...It's remarkable. And the dynamic between Harry and all the Fae is just so much fun. ESPECIALLY Maeve and Mab. It just gets better.

Not so much golden light, though if I go to the right web page it could appear so...But thanks again for the encouragement.
