Re: A comment in which I am a name nerd.

Heeee :D My real name is uncommon.... but it's a variant of other really common name, and it means "God is my judge". While I'm not terribly religious, lately I find it's a good name for me. I used to allow other people to influence me very easily, and now I'm translating my name loosely as "nobody (as in other humans) has the right to tell you what to think, or judge you for the things you like". And I really like that translation.

Yes, subtle meta. Love it. After I watched Bourne movie for the first time (I've lost count how many times I rewatched, lol), both Aaron's name and last name wouldn't leave me alone. It sounded... somehow oddly too perfect. Too elegant for a man like him, or any man, for that matter, so I looked into the meanings of both. Aaron Cross is an improved man at crossroads. I call that a wonderful name choice. I find it ironic how Marta signifies a woman with power (I read once, in a book about Mary Magdalene, that "Marta" wasn't just a name but also some kind of title in old Jewish society (just like "lady" or "countess" or things like that). It basically meant a lady, a woman who didn't have to work hard, and who also had a certain status. Ironically, Marta from the Bible is a lady but acts like a servant; and I find it's a fitting parallel to our Marta from the movie. I played with that a bit in "Gravity" which was entirely from Aaron's POV, but he does notice the shift in power and the change in Marta's role.

Find me one thing about Star Wars that's truly subtle! Heee! But, it works for Star Wars.

Steve's Miserable Christmas is written and I have to edit and post it :D It's... fluff upon fluff. Eep!
