I'm trying to imagine Clint as Rick Castle and it's just not working, but thank you for the amusing mental image. Natasha as Kate Beckett, yeah, that one's easy to picture (though Kate's a little less reserved than Natasha), but Clint as Castle is just...bwahahaha. Thank you for that, and for the comment! I'm glad that you liked the story! That makes me feel good on the inside.
I've noticed that a lot of fics make Clint musical (which makes sense if you read gyzym's Only John Wayne Left In This Town, which I think influenced that particular trend), but I started wondering what he thinks about on these long stretches of time where he's waiting for something to happen. In my head, he really isn't a great reader; he likes Clive Cussler, Stephen King, maybe Dan Brown, but he's so observant that he sees all parts of the stories he creates in his head and understands how to manipulate them to work like other authors do. He doesn't think he's good at it, particularly, so the fact that he has this crazy fandom coming up with conspiracy theories about him is baffling.
Natasha, on the other hand, finds it hysterical and wasted no time after that sparring match (and the afterglow) signing up on the forums of his website to post "outrageous" (read: true) theories about T.C. Hawke that most of the fans dismiss.
They have their own ways of keeping things interesting. ;)
(About the writing style, the best advice I can give is to practice, practice, practice. Write what makes you uncomfortable, push yourself daily, and I think you'll surprise yourself. But for the record, I think you've got a very captivating style.)
