Apparently Chevy Chase is leaving Community. He'll be in episodes that have already been filmed, but not the ones that haven't yet. I think Pierce can be funny sometimes, but I get the vibe that Chevy makes life difficult for his castmates, so I can't exactly say I'll be sorry to see him go.

Amusingly, I saw him in person a few years ago while covering a red carpet event with my host. She interviewed him; I filmed the whole thing and asked her, after he walked away, "Who was that?"

She gave me this shocked look and said, "You don't know who Chevy Chase is?"

I did; dude had just aged since Christmas Vacation. And then a year later, he was on Community. It felt like a confluence of life coincidence to me.

tl;dr  - Chevy's leaving Community and I didn't recognize him the time I saw him cos he's old.  Cool story, bro.

Hmm... Chase plays the same role in real life, that he does on the show? That's appropriately meta for Community.
I've heard grumblings about Chase leaving since the middle of last year so that really doesn't surprise me, I'll be curious if they build a ridiculous funeral episode for right after his episodes are done. That could be really entertaining.

I've heard that about him. The actresses on Twitter play a game called #PierceOrChevy where you try to guess if the line was scripted or not. I think Chevy is a little disturbed by how racist Pierce has become, but he's essentially the same as his character, yeah. The thing is, apparently he's actually in the season (hopefully not the series) finale, which has already filmed, but there are two episodes left between now and then. So I'm hoping they either don't mention it at all or bring somebody random in to play him.

Of course, that's probably waaaaaaay too meta, even for Community.

I've heard that he's a PITA to work with, and I can definitely enjoy the show just fine without Pearce.

Howdy! I hope I wasn't being too forward by friending you. I really enjoyed White Blank Page, but am quasi-new to LJ and wasn't sure what the etiquette is, so I've been, um, stalking your LJ every few days and lurking.

....which just makes me sound creepier.

And I agree: I will have no problem watching a Community without Chevy. He does get some of the greatest one-liners, but of all the characters I could easily lose, he and Chang top the list.
