Weekend and Stuff
Oct. 14th, 2012 11:55 pmMy grandma and uncle were in town this weekend because they travel with a local travel group (which gives them time to see us for the day or so before/after they leave on the trip). It was really nice. I went home yesterday after a lunch with some friends, and got to spend time geeking out with my uncle about Apple products and the cool things our various gadgets can do. They sang happy birthday to me and I got to look like I was breathing fire in the photographs, so that received an A++ in my book.
The friends I went out to lunch with yesterday have either never seen the Avengers or hate Black Widow. My one friend liked Thor, which is nice, I guess, but I find him the most uninteresting of all of the Avengers, so I just sort of smiled and nodded at her. They gave me birthday presents, too. So now I have lots of money...which I used to pay off my library fines and go read books about the 1700s.
Taken 2, which we went to see together, is as fantastically hilarious as the first once you get past the idea that Maggie Grace and Kristen Stewart dress/look alike.
In other more writerly news, I've decided to be a Nanorebel this year yet again. I've given the matter a lot of thought and with everything going on in November, it's simply not the smartest idea for me to plunge in and write another book that will burn me out, especially with all of these unfinished fics that still prey on my mind. So I have made the call and the call is that I am going to use Nanowrimo for word count once more, but this time, I will be doing some housecleaning. I'm basically clearing out my entire fanfiction backlog.
Also, the American State of Play sucks compared to the British. Guh. Seriously, that was terrible. It’s possible that I just have this thing against Russell Crowe because I had no problems with Helen Mirren or Rachel McAdams. I didn’t even finish the damned thing. BACK TO NETFLIX WITH YE, FOUL BEAST.
If you missed it, I wrote another Natasha-centric thing for my writerverse commitments. It's here.
